Professional career

Following her training as an industrial management assistant, Barbara Knapp accomplished her studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Mannheim with the degree in Public Administration (UAS). From 1988 to 2005, she worked as a vocational guidance and rehabilitation counsellor at the employment agencies in Hamburg and Stade. In 2005, she changed to the Headquarters of the Federal Employment Agency in Nuremberg, to the area of career guidance. Since 1 August 2008, Barbara Knapp has worked at the research coordination of the IAB.
