Professional career

From 1998 to 2004 Stefan Bernhard studied Sociology at the Universities of Bamberg and Galway (Ireland). Subsequently he worked as assistant at the chair of sociological theory in Bamberg. For the following three years he hold a scholarship in the doctoral programme “Markets and Social Systems in Europe” and wrote a Ph.D. on the sociology of European social policy. In 2010 he won the Ph.D. price of the German Sociological Association. Since October 2008 he has been working in the Institute for Employment Research (IAB).
