Basha Vicari is a senior researcher in the research department “Education, Training, and Employment over the Life Course” and head of project group “National Educational Panel Study: Adult Education and Lifelong Learning (NEPS).” She studied social sciences at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg as well as at the Comenius University of Bratislava, Slovakia. She completed her degree in 2008 (Diploma in Social Sciences). She worked from 2009 through 2012 as a teaching assistant at the Chair of Sociology and Empirical Social Research of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. In 2012 she joined the research group “Occupational Labor Markets” at the IAB. From 2010 to 2015 she was a scholarship holder of the joint Graduate Programme (GradAB) of the IAB and the School of Business and Economics of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. She completed her doctorate in 2017 with the PhD Thesis “On the significance of occupations for job changes”.

Her research interests include empirical sociology of labor markets and occupational research. This is in particular the measurement of occupational characteristics, occupational mobility, certification, qualification mismatches and occupational gender segregation. In addition, she is also involved in data collection by survey experiments (vignette studies).
