Professional career
Lutz Bellmann has been Professor of Economics (Volkswirtschaftslehre), in particular labour economics, at the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg since May 2009. He completed his degree (MA) in economics 1980, his doctorate in economics in 1985, and his habilitation in economics at the Leibniz University in Hannover in 2004. After that, he worked as a lecturer at the universities of Bamberg, Basel, Berne, Hannover, Cologne, Nuremberg, Passau, Speyer, Trier and Tübingen and as a Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) in Bonn. He has been employed by IAB since 1988, took charge of the IAB Establishment Panel in 1997, and has been Head of the Research Department "Establishments and Employment" since 2000. Lutz Bellmann is fellow of the Labor and Socio-Economic Research Center (LASER) within the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and research fellow of the Institute for the Study of Labor. Professor Bellmann is participating in the teaching of Bachelor courses and Master courses in economics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
