Professional career

Jacopo Bassetto is a PhD student in Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Trento (Italy) and at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg, Germany. Previous to work at the IAB he obtained a BA in Economics from Bocconi University and a MA in Sociology and Social Research at the University of Trento. At the IAB he currently works as Early Stage Researcher within the Marie-Curie Action GLOMO, funded by the European Commission. The project is an interdisciplinary effort to investigate global mobility from both an individual and firm’s perspective. In the project he analyses the role of different educational and training systems in shaping both migration patterns and the integration of migrants in the host countries.

His research interests are labor economics, the economics of education and the economics of migration. Currently he is working on the integration of non-European migrants in the labor market through the recognition of foreign certificates, and on the effect of emigration shocks on aspirations and educational attainment of stayers in the home country.
