Her main research interests relate to labor market and employment research, migration and refugee research, post-socialist societies particularly Russia, international comparison, institutional change, social stratification, gender inequality, social inequality of educational opportunities, life course research, adult education, and quantitative data analysis.

Professional career

Yuliya Kosyakova joined IAB as senior researcher in April 2016. Since 2019 she has been a lecturer at the University of Mannheim. He studied Economics (European Economic Studies, MSc) at the University of Bamberg and received her PhD in Sociology at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence in 2016. Between 2011 and 2016, she was a part of the research team on the ERC-funded international comparative research project ‘Education as a Lifelong Process – Comparing Educational Trajectories in Modern Societies’ (eduLIFE) at the Department of Social and Political Science (SPS) in the European University Institute. Her main research interests focus on migration and integration, social stratification, post-socialist societies particularly Russia and international comparison.
