Betriebliche Berufsausbildung und Weiterbildung in Deutschland

"This report is the result of a revised form about the previous reporting on in-house training and further training. In contrast to earlier reports, time series are presented on all chosen indicators that are to be continued in future. Moreover, the database, the IAB Establishment Panel, and the indicators used are outlined in detail in order to explain possible differences to other data sources. The most important findings from the more recent year of reporting are:
- Training rate: In 2009, according to the IAB Establishment Panel, roughly 1.5 million persons were engaged in a training relationship; that amounts to a training rate of roughly 6%.
- Eligibility for training: 56% of all establishments in Germany were entitled to carry out training in 2009.
- Participation in offering training: Under consideration of various criteria, 31% of establishments in 2009 were considered to be active in training.
- Training inactivity: Somewhat less than half of the establishments entitled to conduct training did not carry training out in 2009.
- Conclusion of contract: c. 12% of establishments which had offered training contracts could not find any applicants for their training positions (2009).
- Rate of successful trainees taken on by establishment: In 2009, more than half of the persons successfully completing the training (57%) were taken on into employment by the establishment that had trained them.
- Participation in offering further training: After a drop in the figure, in comparison to the year before, 45% of the establishments could be considered to be active in further training in 2009.
- Rate of further training: On average, roughly 24% of employees were included in further training measures at the last count (2009)." (text excerpt, IAB-Doku) ((en))
