Krise der Arbeitsgesellschaft: Postulat mit unzureichender Evidenz

Abstract

"The limited absorption capacities of the world of work were and are the starting point for debates on the so-called 'crisis of working society'. The core of the issue is the assumption that not enough work exists and/or that in the long run no more work will be available. While it is true that considerable and lengthy labour market problems can ensue as a result of severe economic crises, the former should not be seen as a sign of a crisis in the labour market that is inherent to the system. This article attempts to show that there is not sufficient evidence to support the postulate of a 'crisis of working society'. At the same time, this should not hide the fact that improvements in the situation on the labour market will not ensue by themselves. Rather, if a sustainable and high degree of employment is to be attained, both continued efforts on the part of the state to design the appropriate framework conditions for business and the labour market as well as the proactive contribution of establishments and individuals will be necessary."
