Professional career

Gerhard Krug studied Sociology at the University of Bamberg. He was a scholarship holder in the Wiso/IAB Graduate Program and received his doctoral degree from the University of Bamberg in 2009 (summa cum laude). Since 2003 he is a research associate at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg, currently in the department "Joblessness and Social Inclusion ". Since 2010 he is also Assistant Professor (Akademischer Rat a.Z.) at the Chair of Empirical Economic Sociology (formerly Prof. Monika Jungbauer-Gans) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. 2016 he completed his habilitation at the University of Hannover (venia legeni: Sociology). He is member of the DFG-funded research network "Social Networks and Health Inequalities (SoNegU)". His work appeared among others in Kölner Zeitschrift für Soziologie und Sozialpsychologe, Zeitschrift für Soziologie, European Sociological Review and Social Networks.
